Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and must (a) be currently enrolled in, or (b) have completed a graduate degree in one of the following disciplines:

Social Work
Counseling Psychology
Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Community Counseling
Marriage and Family Therapy Psychology Addiction Counseling
Public Health (with Concentration in Mental Health)
Pastoral Counseling (Chaplains)
Psychoanalysts

Note: Nursing or medical degrees that include instruction on the foundations of counseling or helping relationships can be considered with faculty review and approval.  

Applicants must complete BOTH of the following courses to meet foundational competencies with successful completion.  

Clinical Trauma Professional (CTP) [13 CE Hours] Course available through ITTI
First Responder Treatment Provider Course [13 CE Hours] Course available through Integrated Wellness Institute and ITTI

Applicants must submit their certificate of completion or transcript to meet course requirements.

Understanding the cultural implications of first responders is a vital aspect of competency. Applicants must obtain a minimum of 15 hours in cultural exposure or training regarding first responders.

These hours can be a combination of a variety of options/activities or from one source. A list of approved options below can be submitted.

Proof of these hours must be submitted.

Approved Cultural Relevancy Experiences:
A. Previous experience providing treatment to first responders
B. Attendance of in-person and/or online training focusing on first responder culture
C. Consultation related to fire service and/or police psychology
D. Ride-A-long with emergency responder agency or department
E. Completion of continuing education related to first responders:

National Emergency Responder and Public Safety Center
UCF Restores: Cultural Competency Fire Services


Cultural experiences (beyond this list of approved options) can be considered for review.
Applicants that request a review of their cultural relevancy activity/experience must submit the Cultural Relevancy Exception Request and received approval from an ITTI faculty instructor. 

Applicants must demonstrate competency in foundational therapeutic skills with a minimum of 300 direct client contact hours of supervised therapy/counseling experience through at least one of the following options:

A.  Completed at least 300 supervised hours through graduate level Internship, Fieldwork, and/or Practicum  
B.  Completed at least 300 supervised hours through post-masters licensure hours (i.e., post-masters residency)  
C.  Completed at least 300 supervised hours post-licensure    

The application for Certification is subject to the following terms and conditions:

Candidate must attest they have attained the requirements for certification and provide documentary evidence for each requirement.

Candidate must provide a complete and up to date CV/Resume and details of Professional bodies to which he/she belongs.

Candidate must be in good standing with the State Board that licenses him/her, or the professional organization under which he/she practices.

Candidate must not be on professional probationary status for any reason.

Candidate must not have been ethically or professionally denied application to or renewal of his/her professional membership in local, state or national associations to which he/she is qualified within the past 5 years.

Candidate must not have had his/her professional privileges restricted, revoked, or revised in any formal institutional setting based upon professional malpractice within the last 5 years.

Candidate must have current professional malpractice insurance (individual policy or covered under an employer or agency policy).

Candidate must consent to the verification of the information submitted and accept that any false statements, misrepresentations, or omissions may result in the disqualification of the application, revocation of certification, or other legal consequences.

Candidate must agree to these terms and conditions and certify that all information provided in their application is true, complete, and accurate to the best of their knowledge.
